What is Holiness? And what does God want for me? Listen to the Holy Rosary in Latin. E ach of these five M ysteries are recited — prayed, really — in Latin as our forefathers had prayed the Rosary for over a thousand years. You can follow the audio presentation in the text accompanying it below. Please remember that each Mystery, as you listen to it, is being prayed — and not merely recited.
We invite you to enter into these prayers with us. The audio files are not "professional recordings" We humbly ask you to overlook what is imperfect within them. Our special thanks to the cloistered Community of Poor Clare Colettine Nuns of Ty Mam Duw in Wales for preparing the text for this presentation, for their loving encouragement, and for their constant prayers through which alone this project is possible. Paul used to finish off his First Letter to the Corinthians 1 Cor. Our Lord come. Veni Domine Iesu!
I will offer to you first a Latin and then an English version of each of the Rosary prayers, and of as many other prayers as I can lay my hands on. It is my own opinion that the increased use of the Latin language by the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church will contribute mightily to the restoration of the lost Sees.
So I ask anyone who has the ability or willingness to learn, and who wishes to commit themselves to this project, to utilize Latin as much as possible in the effort. Thank you. Credo in Spiritum Sanctum, sanctam Ecclesiam catholicam, Sanctorum communionem, remissionem peccatorum, carnis resurrectionem, vitam aeternam. And in Jesus Christ his only Son Our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried: He descended into Hell, the third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven, He is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sancificetur nomen tuum. Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in coelo et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie. Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem: sed libera nos a malo.
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum; benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui Iesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper et in saecula saeculorum.
