The original not a cheap imitation like other being sold that look similar. Our probe is very easy to adjust. Other probes can be frustrating and frankly seem impossible to adjust properly due to poor adjustment design.
Also our probes in the event of a crash can be easily fixed with inexpensive replacement parts. Other probes out there the whole probe gets ruined in a crash. Comes with attached shielded cable with 3. LED indicates trigger Adjustable concentric screws. Each probe is tested before ship for quality. Thanks for your interest in Probe-It!
I began writing Probe-It! The introduction page is the default page that Probe-It opens to. It serves one simple yet important purpose… Test your probe out and verify the big LED on the Mach3 screen lights up when you activate the tip before you do any probing!
The Calibration and Setup page is where you set some of the basic parameters, and have the option of creating a probe tip calibration table. The compensation can correct for probe trip deflections, backlash, etc and results in the ability to probe parts and perimeters very accurately.
You can select from two methods of calibration depending on your probe. If your probe tip is mechanically centered to the shank Prefered! This method is less ideal, as you must re-install the probe at the same angle everytime. In addition, you must be able to center your spindle to the gauge ring BEFORE running the option 2 calibration routine to get the correct offsets measured.
The XY Probing page provides several canned routines that probe sides, corners, edges, ID bores, slots, etc. All of the routines provide dimensional measurement info CMM like usage and the option to zero the axis to probed features setup.
The Perimeter probing routine is really what Probe-It! When the routine runs into an abrupt change, it will attempt to interpolate the corner as a 90 degree direction change and record a point at the assumed intersection.
This routine is meant to be an additional method of setup for machining operations. You simply enter in the X or Y or both X and Y spacing, start in the lower left hand corner of your workpiece, and let the routine run. I recommend the latest lock down or 3.
A workaround to use this wizard is to setup another Mach3 Profile that uses a standard screenset. There is NO guarantee that it will work properly with any other external motion control device, as probing is handled within the motion controllers and not Mach.
Test at your own risk. Probing is not implemented correctly in these devices, and they have been reported to produce random moves which may damage your probe. This has been reported by a few users now.
Ability to probe in any sort of vector in the X-Y plane, with result corrected by calibration data Automatic 2. The Setup and Calibration page The Calibration and Setup page is where you set some of the basic parameters, and have the option of creating a probe tip calibration table. Yellow circles indicate points at which the routine guessed where there should be an intersection based on a direction change. The only thing done after saving the file from Probe-It, was to open in ACad, and fit a circle to the wrench profile using 3-points so that a diameter measurement could be made.It is capable of running many different kinds of CNC machinery, and is extremely stable.

Fully licensed copies are available from CNC. For simple and straight setup, you can download these XML configuration files.
They will be able to run your machine with some very simple tweaking. Please check these files regularly, as it is possible they will be updated in the future. CNC Controller. Kickstarter Controller. If your computer is faster, you may be able to set this higher.
Use the Driver Test program see "Testing Computer Speed" section to test how your computer performs when you increase the Kernel speed. On the "Motor Outputs" screen you can enable and disable the axes.
Set the "Step" and "Dir" port as 1. If you want to reverse the directions of any of the axes, place a checkbox in the "Dir Low Active". On the "Input Signal" screen, you will want to scroll down and enable the EStop button. You will need to do this, the machine will not run without the EStop setup. Place a check mark in the Enabled box, assign the Port as 1, Pin as If you do not have an EStop switch, you will need to place a check mark in the "Active Low" box.
This will simulate that the EStop button is always released. On the "Output Signals" screen. Place a check mark in the "Enabled" for the Digital Trigger. This will enable your control board when your Mach3 is running. Set the Port as 1 and Pin as 1. There are three main settings you need to set for each motor. It is based almost entirely on the type of leadscrews used in the machine.
A formula for determining the setting can be found on the Stepper Motor Calculations page. For our machines 20 IPM is a good base to test movement, with higher speeds being capable through Stepper Motor Tuning. If you notice a lack of performance with your CNC, or missed steps, you should run the Mach3 Driver test.
It is located in the Mach3 folder on your harddrive and is called "drivertest. Loading the program you can set your parameter control number of pulses Mach3 will send per second, for our Kickstarter electronics we use 35KHzand press "Start Timer". The computer will then act as if it is actively sending out commands to the CNC and will measure how many are successful. If you computer is fast enough it will say "System Excellent" if your speed is too slow or even too fast it will say "Pulsing Too Slow" or "Pulsing Too Fast".
Always turn off all other programs when running Mach3 and the driver test. Most of them should not be played with or adjusted. We have found one setting that is useful to change. Unless you properly tune your stepper motors it will be wise to change your "Motion Mode" from "Constant Velocity" to "Exact Stop".
Your machine will accelerate to each point, and come to a stop instead of trying to power through each point. Using Constant Velocity often causes rounded corners, instead of cutting exactly what it is supposed to. This will cause the machine to switch to Exact Stop when it approaches a corner that would otherwise be rounded off. Toggle navigation CNC. Thread Tools Show Printable Version. I have been making a few different jobs over the last couple or 3 weeks and nearly every one of them involves manually changing tools.
This was getting to be a pain in the arse so decided to make something to make life easier. It took me about an hour to make using a bit of engineering plastic, a bit of steel which I had lying around and a spring, after using it I realized I should have made one a long time ago. I put the spring in to give the probe a little bit of movement in case the machine overtravels slightly, this way it does not damage the tool when setting.
I have attached the drawing, photo of it and the script which I took from the Mach3 website and modified the code to suit my machine. This was mainly down to the fact that I do not have any home switch's on my machine which is one of the jobs I will get round to one day, not really needed them but can definitely see the advantage in having them. Anyway, I changed the code to get round this and now it works fine. The probe is wired into the controller using a single core wire, any size wire within reason will do, I used a length of 0.
Once you wire it in setup mach so that the input you have wired it to is associated with the digitize function. The input configuration can be found in the can be found in the 'Config', 'Ports and Pins', 'Input signals' section in Mach3. You may have to play with the active low setting to get it to work, just depends how your inputs are wired. Mine is set to active low ON, the default is off. The method for using the probe is as follows - 1 - Set your x and y offsets on the job.
Mach now knows where the top of the job is in relation to the table and stores the offset. Just set them all to ! I did try to write the script and make it store the values in the tool offset table but this proved too complicated and is not required, when manually changing tools then all you are interested in is the difference in height between the first tool and the current one and this is what the script does.
Best thing I have made in a while Tool Height Set Script. Hi Steve, Long time no speak Remember me, Hemsworthlad.!! If you think this is good addition Get the home switch's ASAP they really are one of the best and simplist things you can add to a machine.! If you want to expand on this script and and basicly make it full autotool setting checkout Bigtex's screenset then mod the code to suit your screen or machine if like me you don't like the MachBlue screen.
I modded my own screen and probe scripts, in the early days of tex's scripts I adapted along with others tweaked them so they worked with metric or imperial units checking which was being used. I also altered the code to double tap the probe differantly for some reason but can't remember why.? All I know is it wouldn't work how I wanted it.!! Initial fast probe then a small retract then slow accurate one.
I found it far more accurate and you didn't need to mess about positioning the tool mm above the pad as the first fast probe was quick enough to probe from highup and not seem like for waiting for ever.!! In the past I wrote or Hacked others and used probe scripts all the time by MDI calling macros, top of material, material edge, corner, circle centre, circle outer, parallel edge etc and they are so usefull I wouldn't have been without them thou I never took the time to fully build a custom screen to make best use of them.
Then Gerry Ger21 came along with his screen which had pritty much the same probe routines so now I just use gerry's screen.!Screensets are different interfaces that can be created for Mach3.
