They get to the recording studio, where April finds Ron trying to destroy all evidence of his alter ego Duke Silver, since this is where Duke records.
April agrees to help Ron keep his secret, which was revealed to her in past seasons. Who spoons whom, you know? Leslie panics. Dave walks away from the table alone, and one of my favorite moments of this episode comes when he returns to the table while Leslie is explaining the situation to Ben.
He berates the team for being terrible at their backing vocals a turn-on for Aprilsuggests tea with honey for their vocal cords April smashes the Duke Silver mugand then asks them to sing individually, which is how we get to learn that Chris is a truly dreadful singer. Tom is still coming on too strong with Ann, and when he brings in flowers, she breaks up with him on the spot, and he walks outside into the pouring rain.
Ben gets Leslie the endorsement, and Leslie celebrates by endorsing ten beers to her mouth. We find the rest of the team still at the recording studio, and Andy is frustrated with how hard the process seems to be. Ron encourages him to take a walk and then gives a knowing nod to the studio producer.
Tom comes on strong with Ann one more time, singing in proper Color Me Badd fashion about how he could be the boo of her dreams.
And I need more from Donna than just a wicked arm dance upon hearing the campaign song. Already a subscriber? Log in or link your magazine subscription. Account Profile. Sign Out. Pawnee has to be one of the best fictional towns in television history. Much like Twin Peaks or Springfield for example, the town of Pawnee is almost like a character in itself. It has its own personality and quirks just like the characters do, and it's episodes like "Sweetums" that give the town a unique and distinctive perception.
One of the best running gags in the entire series is how corpulent Pawnee is, and their love for junk food and sugar. This episode showcases this front and center as we see Leslie trying to protest a potential sponsorship deal between the Parks Department and local candy manufacturer, Sweetums. Sweetums is introducing a new "nutritious" snack called NutriYum Bars that are supposedly supposed to be very healthy but turns out are actually terrible for you 8 grams of fat per serving, 4 servings per bar.
In the best scene in the episode we see Leslie initiate a public forum to make Pawnee citizens aware of how unhealthy these bars actually are. At this forum we get many great moments.
Parks and Recreation
The citizens of Pawnee voice their opinions on the matter, who seem to agree more with Ron's views on what we should and should not eat. You are free to do so. To me, that's beautiful. We get a few side-plots as well, that are not as good as the main plot, but still very enjoyable. We see the rest of the gang help Tom move out of Wendy's home since they recently separated.
We also see April's romantic feelings for Andy blossom a little more. I like the direction this show is going with these two and is bringing out more personality for the characters, especially with April's character.
Overall, "Sweetums" is a very funny and smartly written episode that has many great lines and moments.Watch the video.
Leslie could pay a steep political price for saving the Parks Department budget from getting cut, and Chris considers Ron for a promotion--which could actually be short-lived. This show is soo horrible. Each episode has the same boring theme : Leslie is in trouble and clearly cornered, then Leslie somehow gets out of it by doing something stupid, then its happily ever after. Title: Pawnee Rangers 13 Oct In an effort to fight the inequality of Ron's boys-only wilderness group, Leslie takes her girls-only troop, the Pawnee Goddesses, on an adventure weekend. Meanwhile, Tom and Donna force Ben to join them for a day of relaxation, and Chris finds a reason to spend time with Jerry. Written by NBC Publicity. Season 4 has a handful of "classic" Parks and Rec episodes. These are the episodes that are tightly written and have memorable lines or scenes that fans of the show mention constantly.
The main story centers around Ron and Leslie leading their two completely different troops The Pawnee Rangers and Pawnee Goddesses together on a camping trip. Ron's leadership style is much more stern and tough while Leslie's is more playful and supportive.
This initiates conflict and jealously between the two troops and eventually leads to a debate and merger. I love when the show collides both Ron and Leslie's personalities. Both characters who are completely different people, somehow find a way to get a long, but it's never easy.
It's one of the show's messages, that despite being in conflict or completely different from others, you can still find ways to see the good in one another and get a long. The children in the troops are perfectly cast and whenever Ron and Leslie are forced to butt heads, it's always a joy to watch. Now, what puts "Pawnee Rangers" above most other episodes in the season, and even the entire series, is its fantastic side-plot.
Not since Season 2's "Practice Date" have I seen such a great side-plot from this series. Tom and Donna who has rarely been funnier have their annual day where they go out and buy themselves things. That doesn't sound as catchy as treat yo self. They decide to bring Ben a long, who they see sitting alone on a bench eating soup. This plotline not only gives us the great pairing of Tom and Donna, but we also see Ben trying to fit in, but is just way to uptight to enjoy himself the way Tom and Donna do.
There are many great scenes, but the best has to be towards the end which I won't spoil but involves a character crying in a very amusing way. Overall, "Pawnee Rangers" is the show at its best and certainly one of the best of Season 4. We get a great main storyline where the show's two best characters Ron and Leslie butt heads.
Also there is an arguably even better side-plot that introduces one of the show's best catchphrases.
